When you come to New Zealand...

Seasons & climate
Hunting season runs from March through August. Keep in mind that the seasons are reversed in the southern hemisphere. You should be prepared for cool to cold conditions, depending upon the species hunted. Layered woolen clothing, rain gear, and sturdy waterproof footwear are suggested. Camouflage or dark colors are best. Bring binoculars, cameras (and plenty of film), a flashlight and personal items.

Weapons
A flat-shooting, medium-caliber rifle is recommended, minimum .270, and 20 to 40 rounds per rifle. We are happy to accommodate bowhunters, and several of our archery clients have enjoyed very good success.

When you come to New Caledonia...

Seasons & climate
We hunt from July into October. While this is technically "winter," the weather will be quite warm. A sweater or jacket is a good idea for cool mornings, and lightweight olive or khaki hunting clothing is ideal. Sturdy but relatively lightweight boots are a must. Don't forget shorts, a swim suit, and a couple of casual outfits for dinner. Days are generally sunny, making a good hat and sunscreen a must, but occasional rains make a lightweight rain suit or poncho a good idea.

Weapons
The New Caledonian authorities are very restrictive on firearms allowed into the country. Only certain calibers are permitted. It is best to contact us several months in advance of your trip and we can advise you on current regulations.

The New Caledonian government requires that you show proof of travel emergency insurance, that provides for your evacuation in the event of an emergency. Such insurance is very cheap, and a good idea wherever you travel. Several companies offer this insurance, but two reliable firms are Traveler's Emergency Network (800-275-4836) and International SOS Assistance (800-523-8662). You must supply us with proof of this coverage in advance of your hunt.
